DIAGNOSTIC

Dental Care Niagara treats every single patient as the family member. When you become a patient you will receive detailed examination of all aspects of face, temporomandibular joint, neck, throat, tongue, gums and all of your teeth. The team at Dental Care Niagara will ensure to also educate you on things that you may have not known to ensure you don’t develop problems in the future. To us, proper treatment is just as important as its prevention.
During your initial examination or your yearly check up, we will also examine level of bone, occurrence of recurrent decay utilizing latest technology and state of the art digital xrays. All of our walls have lead lining to increase the safety of our patients and all of our staff members.
Dr. Daniela and her team will also look for signs of any abnormalities or conditions, such as oral cancer. Did you know that in the next 10-15 years, oral cancer rates will increase by as high as 70% affecting predominantly our youth??? During your next visit, ask Dr. Daniela why, and she will explain you how she, herself and her team, can ensure that your child isn’t one of the stats.

PREVENTIVE

Your regular dental hygiene visits are very important. Aside from removing plaque and calculus, your dental hygienist, will assess all the extra oral and intra oral structures associated with teeth, ensure you keep fresh breath and maintain all of your dental work and gums nice and healthy.
When you don’t have professional cleaning done in over a year, plaque and tartar accumulate around the teeth and especially gum line. Plaque is soft, gel like structure that contains bacteria that has already adhered to the tooth, while tartar (or calculus) is hard structure of bacteria that has calcified over time and can only be removed by the professional cleaning. Both plaque and tartar shelter bacteria that can not only cause tooth decay, but can also lead to inflammation of gum tissue leading to gum disease. Gum disease is the most common disease in the entire world, affecting approximately 80% of world population, predominantly adults as recently reported by The Guiness Book of Records. If left untreated, it can lead to the eventual bone loss around the tooth and development of periodontal disease, so called silent killer of your teeth.
Healthy mouth leads to the healthy body. Recently, numerous studies have confirmed link between gum disease and stroke, heart attack, diabetes, respiratory disease, premature death and even some forms of cancer in males. In order to keep the rest of your body nice and healthy, the professional team at Dental Care Niagara can help you with your first stop-keeping your mouth nice and clean!!! Keeping the rest of your body nice and healthy starts with keeping your mouth nice and clean.

RESTORATIVE

Good oral hygiene is crucial in maintaining good oral health. If bacteria from our mouth are not removed daily, they can hide in grooves of our teeth and eventually decay the tooth structure and cause cavities. If untreated, this decay can spread thru the tooth. The dentist removes this decay with the drill and places a restoration (or filling). Fillings are also done when tooth is broken in order to restore its proper form and function.
Traditionally, dentists used silver filling material (so called mercury) for increased strength and durability. With the advancement of technology, tooth colored white filling materials or resin composites have similar strength with added advantage of approved esthetics. At Dental Care Niagara we implement latest technology even during single filling appointment, to restore your broken or decayed teeth to their natural shape and appearance.

PROSTHETIC REMOVABLE (DENTURES)

If you are missing several or all of your teeth, ask us about our removable partial or complete denture services.
When you are missing several teeth in the same arch, one of the treatment options to replace such teeth may be removable partial denture. This partial denture rests on the tissue and is supported by the surrounding teeth via metal clasps. Clasps allow the denture to stay in place. If you are concerned about your appearance and don’t want any metal showing, ask us if you are a candidate for the precision partial denture. Partial denture is a good option when bridge or implants can not be used. Although, it doesn’t provide the same stability and chewing option as the above two mentioned treatment options, it will still prevent further collapse of the tissue and slow down further dental issues.
When you are missing all of your teeth ask us about the fabrication of conventional complete dentures. At Dental Care Niagara we also provide Dental Implants for denture stability. You will be amazed how much your chewing efficiency, speech, function and comfort can improve by as little as adding two implants to your denture.

PROSTHETIC-FIXED (CROWN & BRIDGE)

A crown or a cap is the restoration that fits over your tooth and restores a decayed or damaged tooth to its normal shape and size. Tooth required the crown when it has had a large filling, big cavity or have had previous root canal that has weakened the remaining tooth structure. To prevent further fracture or breakdown of remaining tooth structure, your dentist can shave down the tooth, so that crown can be cemented over the remaining tooth structure. The resulting crown will feel and appear like your natural tooth. Besides improved esthetics, the crown will also improve longevity and function of your tooth. It can be made out of gold, metal or porcelain material depending on clinical scenario. Ask Dr. Daniela and her team whether any of your remaining teeth would benefit from this type of protection.
If you are missing one or more teeth, one of the most common ways of replacing those missing teeth is by fabrication of bridge. Teeth on either side of the space are used for support of the bridge and as such are prepared during the first appointment. During this first appointment, the molds are taken and temporary bridge is placed in patient’s mouth. During second appointment, final bridge is cemented onto the supporting teeth. Besides providing esthetic replacement of missing teeth, fixed bridge also helps restore normal function and proper position of your bite. Not sure, whether implant or bridge is better option for your missing teeth, not a problem. Ask Dr. Daniela next time you are visiting your Dental Care Niagara family and she will be more than happy to discuss your options with you.

ESTHETIC DENTISTRY (VENEERS, WHITENING)

Veneers are used to cover surfaces of teeth in order to enhance their appearance. They represent a thin shell of porcelain or thin plastic resin material that is cemented onto the natural tooth structure. They are used to fix broken teeth, cover stained or discolored teeth or close the spaces between the teeth and give you more natural beautiful looking smile and help you gain your confidence back. For many patients unhappy with their smiles, porcelain veneers may be a dream come true! Ask Dr. Daniela on your next visit how veneers might change your life.

IMPLANT DENTISTRY

Dental implants are more conservative, effective and natural way to replace missing teeth. They have been around for years, and nowadays they have been placed with great amount of success.
For the single missing tooth, it is by far the best treatment option. Implant is a titanium screw that is placed in the bone where tooth used to be. With advancement of nowadays technology, it is less traumatic than the conventional filling appointment. Once in the bone, implant is left to heal for up to six months to ensure its proper acceptance into the bone. Once healing is completed, the post is placed inside implant onto which the crown (or cap) is added.
Implants are used to replace just one tooth, several teeth or all of the teeth in your jaw. Wouldn’t you like to eat steak, or corn without worrying of your denture slipping out??? Dentists have been successfully placing implants for many years to allow thousands of people to eat, smile, and speak without worrying about dentures moving or gaps showing from missing teeth. If you have one or several teeth missing and would like to gain comfort and confidence that implants have to offer, talk to Dr. Daniela and her staff at Dental Care Niagara.

ORAL SURGERY (TEETH EXTRACTION AND WISDOM TEETH)

There are many different reasons why teeth have to be extracted. Gross decay, infection and impaction are only some of them. Before removing any of your hopeless teeth, dentist will review your medical and dental history and take appropriate x-rays to ensure the safe tooth removal. At Dental Care Niagara, Dr. Daniela and her team will ensure you are always properly numb, thus providing comfort during the procedure, as well as give you any necessary post op instructions to ensure minimal discomfort and pain afterwards.
The most common teeth that have to be removed are called third molars or wisdom teeth. They are present at the back of your jaw, and cause problems to most people because there is not enough room for them to properly develop. They can cause crowding, improper bites; they can be partially erupted (making them difficult to clean around) or completely impacted (present under the bone, sideways, or growing into the adjacent teeth). They easily shelter bacteria that can build up leading to infection causing overlying tissue to swell, become inflamed and extrude the puss. To clear up the infection and get rid of associated pain, wisdom teeth are removed. Sometimes, they are removed as there will cause a future problem in the mouth. Talk to your team at Dental Care Niagara whether or not any or all of your wisdom teeth have to be removed.
